On the 30th August which is the 100th anniversary of our Victory Day, Turkey has become the country with the most accredited teams in the field of search and rescue in the world by the United Nations!
GEA Team has been carrying out its activities in the field of search and rescue in disasters and
emergency situations in Turkey and all around the world on a voluntary basis since 1994 was accredited as a Light Urban Search and Rescue Team after the United Nations INSARAG classification process held in Istanbul between 27-30 August.
3-days-long exercise hosted by Istanbul AFAD Provincial Directorate and opened by the Head of AFAD Governor Mr.Yunus SEZER is successfully completed.
Having successfully completed the light search and rescue team accreditation process, GEA received its certificate on 30th August at the ceremony attended by UN INSARAG representatives, Uskudar District Governor Mr.Adem Yazıcı and Uskudar Deputy Mayor Mr.Zekeriya Sanlıer. Head of AFAD, Governor Mr.Yunus Sezer attended to the ceremony with a video message and congratulated the GEA team.
With this accreditation GEA became one of the first accredited United Nations search and rescue teams in the world as ‘Light Urban Search and Rescue Team’
