76th GEA Search and Rescue Exercise – Istanbul

76th GEA Search and Rescue Exercise was held on Friday, February 26 at the GEA Training and Coordination Center in Ayas, Ankara with the participation of national and international operations team members, medical and humanitarian aid team and Young GEA.

On the first day of the exercise, which started with 120 participants, theoretical training such as being a team, homeopathic treatment in emergencies, field coordination, approach to wreckage, hazardous materials and advanced driving techniques were given.
After completing the theoretical training on Saturday morning, February 27, the teams set out to the debris areas in Mamak, Ankara.
After reaching the wreckage area, the base camp was set up first.
Afterwards, the group was divided into teams and work was carried out on the wrecks, and stations prepared in the base camp.
Teams worked alternately on coordination, communication and logistics station in the main camp area; at the debris area, they worked on area scanning, search devices, debris support, drilling and medical; and worked in the landing-with-rope stations.

In the following hours, after the station works were completed, an alarm was given and a search and rescue work with a scenario was carried out.
After the work that lasted until the morning, the main camp area was packed up, and the team returned to GEA Training and Coordination Center. After the teams had an evaluation meeting together, the exercise was completed by sharing their feedback.
